Marissa Cooper graduates ...

-Just to prove I'm not dead, here I am.

I'll give The O.C. last night some credit, it did contain the moment of the night, where Johnny, upon hearing Marissa will probably get back into Harbor busts into the fake smiling, isn't that great, no I don't feel like I just got kicked into the nuts faces, only to, as she turns away, plummet into the heartrending, oh my life has ended now that the girl who isn't my girlfriend is going to bail on me and my busted ass knee, which apparently is easily walkable again, face. I wonder if people give me faces like that in real life. It's enough to make me want to start doing the quick turn on people at dramatic moments.

On the other hand, the commercials for the last week did indeed pull the predictable cock tease. Probably the biggest dropped story lines from the first season was what the hell happened to Marissa's sister. She wandered through the screen a few times an episode for a while and then suddenly, when all the shit started to really hit the fan, she was gone. I mean clearly the writer's had nothing to do with an 9 year old kid, so after a few months they drop a casual mention that she's off to boarding school, problem solved. Of course now, scraping for story ideas, they've finally taken to listening to intern's suggestions that probably went something along the lines of, damn man, we've already done high school chick on older dude, high school dude on older woman, his girlfriend's mother no less, we've done old man on hot mom, we've done a soft core porn angle, we've done hot girl on girl action, what the hell's left, ah shit, let's bring back Marissa's sister.

Damn you Fox, she isn't but 15, I don't need that kind of self evaluation

So now, we get Kaitlin Cooper back, conveniently aged from a silent 9 year old to a sultry 15 year old (I'm guessing) temptress in a scant 2 years. I knew there was a reason I loved TV. All I know is, she better on the scene in the first 5 minutes of the next episode cause I'm gonna be pissed if they pull back to back cock teases on that.

-In other news, I'm beginning to wonder if Simmons has really gone off the deep end in the last 6 months or if the fact that I actually find myself wincing at a certain percentage of his jokes these days is a product of having found a forum where other people read and critically evaluate him as well. It's an interesting question to suss out, did I finally get tired of 80's joke and off point indie rock references just because there were finally too many or did I need the catalyst of someone else saying, hey man, we loved the guy, but something is afoot here. Anyway, I always held his utter lack of college football knowledge against him, so the Rose Bowl Diary would have been on my crap list regardless.

-In other other news, obviously the ability to blog consistenly on college football has taken a serious hit until the summer, but I intend to do a mention on Georgia's losses and an early look on who might be filling those places sometime soon. And to end, we'll bid a fond early farewell (seniors need not apply) to:

Vince Young, Regggie Bush, LenDale White, Brian Calhoun, Maurice Drew, Leonard Pope, Santonio Holmes, Marcus Vick (but why bother, seriously, just officialy join up with your brother's entourage and get it over with, and while we're at it, has any pair of siblings taken a drop in public perception in the last year like the Vicks, although I guess they are bested, not in overall drop, but as far as absolute lows by the Leaf brothers since Ryan is probably dealing cards to undergrads in Pullman and his brother got booed out of the Holiday Bowl in San Diego). Anyway, there's more to name, but whatever, most of you, I will not miss at all.

Prediction number 1 of next year in CFB, do not bet on a Texas repeat, Mack Brown will never get it done without VY, checking your files re: last 5 years.

Without that VY Jelly, the Texas offense is going to encounter a lot of resistance.
